Tollgate Village is located in Thompson’s Station in the heart of Williamson County. With its geographic location and because of it’s convenient access to SR 840, Tollgate Village is just minutes from some of Middle Tennessee’s most appealing areas. The rapidly growing town of Spring Hill is just a few miles south of Columbia Pike while Cool Springs, with its abundance of shopping and dining options, is just an 11-minute drive by way of SR 840. This new highway also provides a swift, 25-minute route to Downtown Nashville. Nearby Franklin with its historic buildings and beautiful architecture is just minutes away as well.
Thompson’s Station, Tennessee, is rich in history and Southern tradition. The area was first settled in 1799 by pioneers from Virginia and North Carolina who had received land grants for their service during the Revolutionary War. The district first became known as Thompson’s Station in 1856 in honor of Dr. Elijah Thompson. He was responsible for securing funds to build the railroad that made the area a prosperous shipping center. The town was officially incorporated in 1990.
Tollgate Village is located on the site of one of the original tollgates on the Franklin and Spring Hill turnpike. These tollgates are comparable to today’s tollbooths, serving to collect a toll for passage, which kept taxes lower for residents. However, they were also seen as an impediment to trade and travel. Beginning in 1924, tollgates were removed by the Williamson County Government.
